With this anniversary edition, we are celebrating 10 years of AZOWO. In an interview, CEO Patric Schneider talks about how the idea for AZOWO came about, how it became an all-in-one platform, and what he has learned over the past ten years. We also look back on a decade of fleet management—and have an exclusive anniversary discount for you. With that in mind: Cheers to 10 years!

AZOWO – How it all began

“The original idea came directly from our everyday work; at the time, there were three of us founders, full of drive and ideas. Our thinking was quite simple: every company with a pool of vehicles could benefit from software like this.”

- Patric Schneider, CEO of AZOWO

Once the idea had taken shape, the founders embarked on a truly mammoth project: a 700-page specification document detailing every aspect and function of the software. They sent this document to the current CTO, and just a few days later, they spontaneously set off for Bratislava to take the first step towards making their idea a reality.

An exciting but also nerve-wracking time followed: endless investor meetings, the development of the very first prototype, and the struggle for financing, key performance indicators, and building a strong team. It quickly became clear that an investor was indispensable. The commitment of an investor finally marked the decisive moment—the signal that the vision was more than just an idea and could actually be implemented.

Key lessons learned after 10 years: Without a strong team, there can be no lasting success. People who pull together, question ideas, and drive each other forward form the true basis for success. Demand cannot be talked into existence. Either it is there or it is not. It cannot be artificially created or forced. Regular communication with customers provides insights that no statistics can deliver. It helps to identify needs early on and to correctly assess developments. This personal contact is irreplaceable and acts as a radar for the future.

Milestones from the last 10 years

10 years of fleet management: From Excel to AI

The development of fleet management over the last ten years has been impressive – and AZOWO has been actively involved in shaping this journey.

From Excel to the cloud: the shift to an all-in-one solution

In the past, fleet tasks were managed using individual programs or Excel spreadsheets. Concerns about data protection led to local solutions, but these were difficult to maintain and expensive. Today, companies rely on SaaS solutions that cover 90% of their requirements while being flexible, secure, and future-proof.

Technological leaps in fleet management

The last ten years have brought revolutionary changes: vehicle access via app, AI-supported processes, and OEM data integration. These advances make everyday life much easier and enable new approaches that were previously unthinkable.

Expanded compliance requirements

Classic challenges such as key management are now joined by CO₂ reports, electromobility, and efficiency improvements. New requirements make fleet management more demanding, but those who use data in a targeted manner can reduce costs and improve processes.

AI as a game changer for efficiency

Artificial intelligence is becoming a key driver of efficiency in the processing of large amounts of data. In the AZOWO Mobility Cloud, AI is used to automate recurring tasks, assign documents, and simplify fine management. This noticeably reduces the workload on fleets and creates space for strategic decisions.

Looking to the future: autonomous driving and beyond

Future developments such as autonomous driving can also be integrated into platform solutions in the long term. The continuous advancement of AI functions will make fleet management even more efficient.
